Classification of Students
In a regular semester, a student who registers for 12 or more semester hours is classified as full-time. A student registered for less than 12 semester hours is classified as part-time. In order to graduate in eight semesters of attendance, a student in a typical degree program (120-128 semester hours) must average 15-16 semester hours of credit per semester. Students will be classified as to class standing as follows: 1-29 semester hours: Freshman; 30-59 semester hours: Sophomore; 60-78 semester hours: Junior; 90 or more semester hours: Senior.
Co-Op Work Experience
A structured method of combining classroom-based education with practical work experience.
A group of individuals having a common statistical factor.

Community College Transfer Students
Students with transfer credits most recently generated from a community college.
Clinical Support Staff

Direct Exchange Study Abroad
A reciprocal one-for-one student exchange with one specific partner of ECU's abroad.

First-time, Full-time Freshmen
Enrolled first-time, full-time freshmen are newly-admitted, first-degree students

or university prior to the immediately previous summer sessions and who have Full-Time
Equivalency (FTE) of 1.00 during the fall reporting term.
The East Carolina University Foundation was established

The Global Classroom is a state-of-the-art teaching and
learning center which supports internet-based video conferencing and other collaboration
tools for groups up to 100 persons. One use of the Global Classroom is distance
education taping, live web cast, and archived sessions. In addition to distance
education, the Global Classroom supports video teleconferencing which allows students
and faculty on the ECU campus to meet ?face to face? with other students and faculty
around the state, nation, and world.
Grade Point Average
Graduation rate is the proportion of a cohort of students that graduate in a specified period of time, such as four or six years.
